Some games have their framerate capped by default. Coding of a game can have a big effect on if a game benefits from emulation on stronger hardware or not. I tried out Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force, and I can't really notice any difference.

Perhaps the slowdown found in the PSP port of FFTactics is exclusive to the PSP and might not be found on the Vita since it's potentially faster.

It currently doesn't do PS1 games, apparently that functionality will be patched in later.Well, do we know if the extra horsepower of the Vita affects PSP emulation? I remember messing around with custom firmware for my PSP a while back, and when you put the PSP clock to the full 333 mhz (as opposed to the default 222 mhz setting the official firmware used at the time) you were able to get much higher framerates in GTA Liberty City Stories. Really you should play both, maybe FFT now and Tactics Ogre when it gets a price said: said:ĭoes the Vita emulate PS1 games too? Does it do so better than the PSP did, like higher resolution etc? If so, Get the PS1 version of FF Tactics from PSN, and Tactics Ogre for PSP later. In terms of gameplay Tactics Ogre is far easier to break (with archers and/or ninjas) from an early level but has some cool little features like knights being able to actually tank with rampart aura.įinal Fantasy Tactics has generally more enjoyable classes (Monks are fucking awesome) and doesn't have the idiotic class leveling system that Tactics Ogre has, also grinding to unlock Dark Knights can be super satisfying (or frustrating, depending on who you ask). Tactics Ogre also has a far better story in my opinion, with a focus on the nature of geopolitics as opposed to hocus pocus ancient demon bullshit (well, at least until the very end.).
Both are fantastic games but Tactics Ogre received a superior port.įFT suffers from a lot of slowdown in battle animations which can be absolutely infuriating, while Tactics Ogre runs like a dream (if you install) and had a shitload of new dialogue and character art put into it as well as the Wheel of Fortune mechanic which lets you get a lot more out of the crazy branching storyline.
